Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech has been changing the lives of families with children who are deaf and hard of hearing for over 150 years by providing the highest quality therapy and education available to prepare them for success in a hearing world. Today, there are five campuses along the east coast serving more than 1,200 children and their families. The newest location, the Orlando Preschool Program, opened in January 2017 and works with Central Florida children birth to age 5.
The Orlando Preschool Program is holding a Shoe Drive in an effort to raise funds as well as spread awareness. We have identified that there are roughly 60,000 families with children age 0-3 who will need services by the year 2020, giving Clarke strong motivation to continue to expand our mission so that we can reach and teach more children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
“It is remarkable how these teachers are able to create a language rich environment in such a fun and inviting way for toddlers and preschoolers. All the kids, are progressing beautifully and my son is getting closer to mainstreaming with his normal hearing peers not just as ‘average’ but with ‘above average’ testing scores. To say I am proud is an understatement! I owe this school so much and hope it will be around long enough to assist many more families like ours.” Orlando Mom of Landon age 3 years, 9months.
